Jer Moua founded the Phoulek English School in 2016 with the vision of providing free English language and life skills for underprivileged Lao youth.
Having learned English nearly entirely through conversations with English speaking tourists, Jer kindly offers his English language lessons to the many motivated students in Luang Prabang's outer villages who can't afford to take English classes through traditional means. Jer's goal is to empower a new generation of Lao youth with the opportunity and mobility an English language education provides. Unfortunately, many hopeful students are unable to enroll due to the extremely high demand for these services. English skills are in high demand among employers in Laos and many graduates find it incredibly difficult to acquire meaningful employment without them. Our mission at Laos Learns English is to provide Teacher Jer with the tools and resources he needs to keep these lessons free and expand his classroom to provide a quality education for as many students as possible.
